Abdellah Khammar was born in 1939 in the
neighbourhood of the Algerian immigrants in Damascus , Syria. He was educated at elementary and middle schools then at the teachers' training school of Damascus.
He worked as an elementary school teacher in 1959 while studying at university. He then moved to teach in a secondary school in the district of Deraa in 1964 where he became a director of the teachers' training school in 1965 and the director of education in the same town.
He began his career in Algeria in 1967 as a teacher of Arabic literature at Aicha secondary school, then at Athaalibiah in 1971,and Al idrissi in 1973 before moving to the Institute of Bouzarreaa in 1975 where he worked until 1993.He then spent two years at Omar Ibn Alkhattab secondary school. In 1995 he became Inspector of education and training until he retired in 1999.
