Worries of the Writer Boualem

Houmoum Alkateb Bou-alam

It is a play that mixes comedy with serious cultural themes. The play tells a story of a writer who aspires to publish his manuscript and the difficulties that he confronts.

Working as an employee at the National Library, Boualem Mahfouz won the love of his colleagues and the respect of library visitors. He was an example of devotion to work. He always helped the teachers and readers in their researches. Someone described him as a bright star that illuminates all people and things which surround him.

He works after his retirement as a grammar checker in a publishing house in Algiers, hoping to publish one of his books. Boualem lives for others not for himself. He is not selfish so his worries are familial, social, cultural, national and human.

What are his dreams? Can he realize some of them? Can he finally convince the publisher to publish his book?

These are the questions arise from this play.
