The techniques of novel study: 1- The Personality

This is the first book in a series of five volumes on the techniques of novel study. It allows the student to know multiple models of novelistic characters.

Through its five chapters, it gives him a fascinating insight into their physical, psychological, social aspects, and reveals their noble or vile goals as well as their honest or ignoble motivations, and means to achieve these goals.

Furthermore, the book provides him with clear scheme and simplified rules that enable him to study, evaluate, and judge these characters positively or negatively.

The student could learn also the difference between developing and flat characters, including their internal and external conflicts. He will be invited to build his own characters from a simplified and clear plan elaborated for that purpose.

In the last chapter, the book cites some examples of the exploits of the leading Algerian figures that played an important role in resistance to colonialism, and preserve the character of the Algerian people, originality and language.

It concludes every chapter with examples that urge the reader to study the biographies of great Algerian and Arab-Islamic personalities as well as the biographies of other nation’s greats who benefited humanity in intellectual, scientific, medical, literary, political and artistic fields.

Finally, the main aim of this series is to teach students the principles of research and to train them to be good researchers by showing them how to gather the required information, to classify them and to choose the suitable arguments and quotations to illustrate their subjects. The series also aim at training them on analysis, synthesis, judgment and evaluation.
