The events of the novel take place at the headquarters of an Algerian newspaper in the capital in 2003. That year saw the earthquake in Boumerdes in the national plan, and American invasion of Iraq and the occupation of Baghdad in the Arab plan. Most of the characters in the novel are journalists, men and women, Arabic speakers and Francophone’s that rivalries between them are severe and intense.

The author presents the events that have been happening at the headquarters of the newspaper, the daily and professional problems faced by journalists and some of the pressures to which they are exposed. He also presents some of the problems of the Algerian and Arab society, including the earthquake in Boumerdes and the invasion of Iraq through the emotional stories that happened in and outside the Gazette.

The novel also contains an operetta entitled "Triumph of Love."
